Melissa has background and experience in broadcast journalism, print journalism, public relations and corporate communications. She takes many concepts she has learned in the classroom and applies them to the real world.
With vast experience in essential industry programs including Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, Final Cut and a variety of sound editing software, Melissa is capable of creating and editing her own content.

- Implemented best social practices and marketing strategies for sports websites ranging from professional athletes to youth teams.
- Instructed over 500 employees in India to assist in content curation and website management.
- Created Facebook and Twitter Apps to measure insights and metrics to understand and analyze trends about webpage views and productivity.
- Used Adobe Photoshop on a regular basis to create logos and backgrounds for a variety of sport websites, also making images responsive for mobile functionality.

• Spearheaded citywide fundraising effort to raise money and awareness for foundation honoring Nick Madaras, who died in Iraq in 2006.
• Collected over 1,000 soccer balls and over $500 for the innocent children of Iraq.
• Addressed audiences over 3,000 people in an effort to increase awareness about cause as the Public Relations Director of the project.

• Produced and presented a 30-page manual on Kick for Nick, a local charity based out of Wilton, Connecticut, raising awareness of the foundation and collecting soccer balls for children in Iraq.
• Placed 2nd in the Community Service category at the state competition level, in Southington, Connecticut, advancing to International Competition in Louisville, Kentucky.
• Placed in the top ten percent at the International DECA Conference in May 2010.
